Ella Morton
Writer, performer, producer
RocketBoom
Ella grew up in Sydney, playing Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego on her dad’s Apple IIc computer and reading random pages of encyclopedias for fun. At 13 she pestered her family into purchasing a blazingly fast 33.6k modem so that they might have access to this internet thing that people were talking about. Ten years later she was writing about technology for CNET and ZDNet Australia and co-hosting Digital Life, a weekly radio program broadcast on 40 stations nationwide and named one of iTunes Australia’s top podcasts of 2009.
Now living in New York, Ella is a writer, performer and the host of Rocketboom NYC and URDB’s The World Record Show. She also offers deranged advice on modern life in her own web series, The Elegant Guide.

“CEA Line Shows is a critical event for my teams at Engadget, Switched, TUAW, and Download Squad. In a tech editorial environment that is increasingly (and understandably) remote and mobile, in-person shows like these are a welcome rarity. Not only do they get my guys and girls out of their home offices, but they have also created innumerable hands-on and breaking stories chock-full of the video and images our readers have come to love and expect. The smaller size of CEA Line Shows means that my journalists can get their job done in a consumable environment as compared to the multi-day, exhausting conferences. Both have their place, but I am for one forever a fan of the smaller CEA Line Shows.”
